Modelli che hanno fatto la storia della Tornado, barche intramontabili che negli anni hanno conquistato il cuore degli armatori.
Ma questa produzione “classica” avrà, oggi, lo spirito sportivo e moderno della nuova era.
Tra i nuovi sviluppi del brand rientra anche il mondo degli Offshore.
I nuovi progetti di sponsorizzazione riportano con orgoglio la bandiera Tornado nel settore Offshore, ripercorrendo così i gloriosi periodi, impressi nella storia del marchio.
Al FITCE di Fort Lauderdale 2023, la Tornado Yachts, ha presentato in anteprima mondiale il nuovo modello Tornado 43 walk around, oggi in produzione.
Il 2024 vedrà anche il varo di una nuova versione del leggendario Tornado 38.

I primi anni settanta sono densi di altre prestigiose vittorie che accrescono il fascino del marchio Tornado.
L’indimenticabile scafo “yellow Tornado” salirà sul podio del prestigioso Wills Trophy condotto da uno dei principali protagonisti di questo sport in mare aperto: Vincenzo Balestrieri.
Medaglia d’oro in atletica leggera nel 1940 all’età di 14 anni, Vincenzo Balestrieri ha proseguito la sua carriera sportiva in mare vincendo 28 competizioni internazionali divenendo, al pari di Sam Griffith e Don Aronow, una vera leggenda.
Sue le vittorie alla Viareggio-Bastia-Viareggio nel 1970 e 1972, al Trofeo di Napoli sempre nel 1970, sono gli anni mitici del “black Tornado”.
Dall’esperienza nelle competizioni sportive, nascono le prime imbarcazioni per il diporto che riescono a coniugare comodità e performance unendo prestazioni di modelli nati per le corse ad uno stile classico e sempre attuale.
Siamo nel 1977, nel corso del Salone Nautico di Genova avviene l’incontro con Tom Fexas, una delle menti più geniali dello yacht design internazionale.
Si pensi, per dare corpo al genio di questo designer, che al momento della sua scomparsa, avvenuta prematuramente nel 2006, si contavano in giro per il mondo oltre mille suoi progetti in navigazione.
Da quel momento vedranno la luce il Tornado 39 Hawk, destinato al mondo delle competizioni, l’Eleven, il 44’ Express e il 45 piedi.
La passione per le competizioni, continua ad essere motore trainante del Cantiere di Fiumicino, era il 1991 quando, a bordo di un Tornado 38’, Adriano Panatta vinse la Venezia – Montecarlo, affascinante gara Offshore che si aggiudicò nuovamente nel 1997 a bordo di un altro Tornado, il 45’.
“Quella barca, dirà Panatta nel corso di diverse interviste, era stata costruita appositamente per la Venezia – Montecarlo dove espresse le sue qualità al meglio. Mi diede soddisfazioni incredibili, soprattutto nella prima edizione che davvero non dimenticherò mai. Ma la sua intramontabilità sta nel fatto che, pur essendo nata per quella gara, vinse ancora e tante altre volte in gare completamente diverse, come quelle di regolarità alle quali partecipai”. “I Tornado sono barche molto competitive, ben costruite in tutte le loro parti, con una concezione che mette al centro le qualità marine oltre che la potenza”.
